Sexing The Cherry

Recently read: Sexing The Cherry by Jeanette Winterson.
Fun fact: This novel was my first choice for my senior seminar paper as an undergraduate. Three other students in my class picked it as well, so I bowed out and ended up picking Borges' Labyrinths.
I remember when I was reading it in 2004 that I did not enjoy Sexing The Cherry that much. It is a neat novel in theory, but on the page it doesn't work out so well. This summer I had a similar reading experience. I like some of the discussions of linearity, and some of the novel reminds me of Woolf's Orlando, but overall I am left expecting more.
I seem to enjoy Winterson's nonfiction writing a lot more than her fiction. Nevertheless, I am open to engaging with more to see if this is an outlier.
